This is not a utopia. One can increase or maintain his visual acuity with his 5 solutions. Simple and efficient.
The Boel Method: Sight Acupuncture
Developed by a Danish acupuncturist, it consists of targeting “points” of traditional Chinese medicine (located at the hands, feet and forehead) to stimulate the visual centers of the brain.
What indications? It aims to improve the vision of people with eye diseases and impaired vision, in addition to allopathic treatments. It is therefore recommended for dry eye , age-related macular degeneration (AMD) or glaucoma.
In practice: The treatment takes place in two stages: the “intensive” period lasts 2 weeks due to an acupuncture session per day (30 to 45 minutes), then the “maintenance” period takes place during 4 weeks with 1 session per week. Not reimbursed by Health Insurance, these sessions (which cost about 60 euros) can be supported by some mutuals.
What results to expect? After 2-3 months, the vision appears clearer and brighter: you can also gain several tenths of visual acuity!
Yoga of the eyes
Developed at the beginning of the XXth century by the ophthalmologist William Bates, this method arrived in France under the name of ” yoga of the eyes “. The principle ? Modify your behavior to gradually correct (and prevent) visual dysfunctions – myopia , astigmatism , presbyopia …
“The magic brush” to fight myopia
Between screens and a sedentary lifestyle, our modern lifestyles encourage close-up vision and fixed gaze. Result: the muscles of the eye system are constantly stretched, which promotes myopia.
In practice: Imagine that a brush extends your nose: using this tool, follow the contours of the ceiling. Then cut smaller and smaller objects, but still at (at least) 50 cm from your head: a candle, a book … This exercise encourages the movement of the eyes and stimulates the visions central and peripheral: it is at do it once a day for 5 minutes.
“Waltz-elephant” to delay presbyopia
The number one enemy of the eyes is the stress: responsible for a permanent tension of the muscles of the external ocular system, it is at the origin of headaches , a decrease of the visual acuity and would be involved in astigmatism and presbyopia.
In practice: Standing, legs apart, arms along the body and eyes parallel to the ground, weigh the weight of your body on the left leg by taking off only the right heel of the ground. Then do the same thing on the other side. This exercise (to be done every evening for 3 min) causes complete relaxation of the ocular system.
Beat eyelashes to moisturize eyes
If the eye is essential for the good health of the eye (it allows hydration of the cornea and the conjunctiva which allows a clear vision, as through clean windows), the overexposure to the screens causes a fixity of the eye. look that can result in loss of visual acuity and dry eye.
In practice: Make it a habit to flash during the day and associate this reflex with a “signal” so as not to forget it! For example: check every time your phone rings, whenever someone says your name …
Palming relaxes the eyes and prevents the loss of visual acuity. The technique: put your hands in a bin on your desk and bend your head to cover your eyes, thumbs on the temples. Close the eyelids and breathe regularly. Do it for 3 minutes every 2 hours when working on a computer.
